You might think that ball gowns are a thing of the past. In the second half of the 20th century, Pierre Berg\u00e9 and Yves Saint Laurent traveled with the “jet-set”, artists, fashionistas and aristocracy in a world alive now in memories and imaginations.\u00a0In the 1950s and 1960s, this crowd wore the designs of Yves Saint Laurent to ch\u00e2teau balls.<\/p>\n

Today, the memories and imaginations are kept digitally alive. Yves Saint Laurent’s archives are available to anyone who uses the Internet. The archives of the\u00a0Fondation Pierre Berg\u00e9-Yves Saint Laurent<\/strong>\u00a0have joined the French Minister of Culture and Communication’s project of digitalizing “patrimoine” (French history). The updated archives include sketch designs of theatre costumes and ball gowns and accessories.<\/p>\n

The archives already online include paper dolls (play the paper doll dress up “La maison de couture de papier<\/em>“), theater, movies, special events, posters, paintings, and “La Vilaine Lulu<\/em>” a humorous comic book for adults in 1956 when Yves Saint Laurent worked with Christian Dior.<\/p>\n

The foundation is open to the public for temporary exhibits or anytime when accompanied by a Cultival guide<\/a><\/strong>. The “Yves Saint Laurent: between couture and culture<\/a><\/strong>” exhibit\u00a0includes\u00a0temporary exhibitions, the Reception Salons, Yves Saint Laurent’s studio and the library of the Foundation. The visits can be conducted in French, English or Spanish.<\/p>\n
