Around 2024 the area of the Eiffel Tower, including Trocad\u00e9ro and l\u2019Ecole militaire will add clean air to your lungs according to the Paris Mayor\u2019s office. The area around the Eiffel Tower is going green. Vehicles of any kind will no longer circulate around either the Tower or across the Iena bridge. From the Place Varsovie on the right bank across from Chatillot to the left bank\u2019s Quai Branly, all will be classified for pedestrians only. Mayor Hidalgo commented, \u201cMy wish is that the Eiffel Tower and the bordering monuments can become truly a relaxing place, especially during the weekends for all families. Paris should be a city where you can let your children run free.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, announced on May 21 the project  laur\u00e9at \u201cOnEI\u201d around the Eiffel Tower<\/a>, which each year attracts around seven million visitors. Estimates are that around 20 million come to admire the Tower without ever entering the actual monument. The completion of the project will coincide with the Olympics and Paralympiques of Paris 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Hidalgo awarded the American architectural firm of Gustafson Porter + Bowman (GB+B) the bid for the proposed project. The landscape architect is Kathryn Gustafson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The advantages of the project include: more open space for pedestrians and public transportation; meets the demand for open spaces in accordance with the COP 21 (The 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference); the project adds value to the Trocad\u00e9ro-Eiffel Tower-\u00c9cole militaire area with more green space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
