\"Jeanne<\/a>Visit the Jeanne Lanvin exhibition at Palais Galliera in person (until August 23) or virtually (download the App). Lanvin is the oldest French fashion house still in business. This exhibit is displaying over one hundred examples of dresses, hats, belts, coats, drawings, etc. I was fascinated by the quilting, tromp l’oeil effects and bolero tops, the swatches with embroidery, beaded and sequined designs. The App\u00a0 took a while to adapt to. The App symbol on the display card did not always correspond with the photo. With patience I figured out the best way for me to get around. It is really worth the time to visit this exhibit and to use the App at the exhibit and refer back to it later.<\/p>\n

Jeanne Lanvin used her travel diaries, swatches of ethnic fabrics and art books as inspiration to create fabrics, patterns and exclusive colors. Her personal involvement in the designs covered a true style evolution from her start as a milliner in 1885 through the bulk and hemline changes of the 1910s and 1920s, into the Art Deco of the 30s. She was original in her use of tubular crystals and beads and trompe l\u2019oeil, not only in her jewelry but the patterns on clothing as well. Her designs were exotic and everyday, exquisite and historical, glittery and romantic.

What\u2019s in the Exhibition App<\/strong>
\nThe mobile App ‘Jeanne Lanvin’ app is available in English for free on Apple Store & Play Store and can be downloaded in the museum foyer (they have WiFi, which is how I downloaded the App).<\/p>\n

About the App from the Galliera website<\/a>
\nUsers have access to audio and video content, texts and more than two hundred archive images from the Lanvin and Palais Galliera collections. The application presents drawings from Maison Lanvin, clothing and accessories, videos, photographs of the dresses, archive images, design registrations, invitation cards, posters, extracts from magazines and fabric samples to illustrate the themes and clothes and to draw links with other creations both within and outside the exhibition.<\/p>\n
