Finding Information for Auvers-sur-Oise

Once again, a welcomed reader’s comments jiggled my chain for an update. This time about transportation to Auvers-sur-Oise. The Auvers-sur-Oise Tourist Office’s website has a transportation page to keep us all current on how to reach the village by train, bus or car.

Reach Auvers-sur-Oise from Paris using various methods: car, train (30 minute ride), the RER or by bus. A special direct train runs the first Saturday of April to the first Sunday in November.

The painter’s self-guided walk and tourist map, is available online or at the office in the Napoleon III pavilion in the center of the village (38, rue de Gaulle – Van Gogh Park). The office is a couple of minutes walk away from the railway station. The office is open from the first days of April to the first of November.

The tourist office’s Discovery (Découvrir) page  provides information on monuments, museums, art gallery, applications, a self-guided walk and the one and a half hour Impressionist Cruise that runs between May and October. The Auvers sur Oise site has a city map showing where to eat, sleep and locate the tourist office. Download an Auvers-sur-Oise tourist office brochure, which shows painters, plaques, map of the village, tourist office information and special events.

For information about the Auberge Ravoux, also known as “The house of Van Gogh” follow this link to a brochure with Auberge Ravoux’s historical résumé and contact information.

The Auvers-sur-Oise website is available in French, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Dutch.

The Auvers-sur-Oise. season slows down between November 1 and March 31. Some museums close while others remain open. In 2015 the village celebrated the 125th anniversary of one of its best known visitors, Vincent Van Gogh.
